The monograph study entitled 120 lat recepcji Quo vadis Henryka Sienkiewicza we Włoszech [120 Years of the Reception of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Quo vadis? in Italy] offers a though insight into the methods and techniques applied by Italian translators and sheds light on the principles behind publishing Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novel in Italy. The book is not only expedient but even expected on the Polish market. So far, we have had no scholars versed equally well in Polish and in Italian culture and proficient in both languages, which seems to be a prerequisite for effectively doing the kind of research which the book showcases.
I believe that the authors’ most important accomplishment lies in compiling the comprehensive resources which are otherwise unavailable in a unified form even to the most experienced researchers of Sienkiewicz’s legacy in reception. The study is meticulous to the utmost, aspiring for completeness and reliability, which deserve a special appreciation.
